Another week of football has passed us, and we are one week closer to the Super Bowl! First of all, my prayers and thoughts are with Denver Broncos head coach John Fox and his family as well as Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and his family as the two men recover from serious health scares. Â Their health is more important than any game, and everyone is hoping they make full recoveries!
- Another off the field incident occurred this week involving two offensive lineman in the Miami Dolphins locker room. Â Last week, OT Jonathan Martin left the Dolphins facility after allegedly being bullied by fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito. Â To read the full story, click here. The story has taken many turns as the days go by, and it does not appear that Incognito will play for the Dolphins again this season. Â Hopefully, Martin can get his mind cleared and make a return to football. Â On the field, the Dolphins picked up the win against the Cincinnati Bengals in one of the most bizarre fashions. Â Tied in overtime, the Bengals were backed up to their one yard line, and Cameron Wake came in and sacked Andy Dalton in the endzone for a walk off safety! Â This loss just shows that inability to believe that the Bengals are a real threat in the playoffs. Â They were coming off a 40 point blow out against the New York Jets, but suffered a loss to the Dolphins. Â Andy Dalton is not helping his case that he is part of the Bengals solution for the future.
- The Seahawks undefeated record at home got quite a scare from the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Â The Seahawks were down 21-7, but held Tampa Bay to three points in the second half by the Legion of Doom. Quarterback Russell Wilson threw two interceptions in a game that they should have dominated. Â It took Seattle a game-winning field goal to put the Buccaneers at 0-9. This is the second week in a row that Seattle has looked less than dominant. Â It came down to a bad throw from a backup quarterback for them to hold on to a win in St. Louis. Â It might be time for Seattle to readjust certain things.
- The Green Bay Packers got the worst news possible on Monday Night. Â Quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone after being hit by Shea McClellin. Â He came out of the game after the first drive and is looking at the possibility of missing multiple games. Â This is now what Green Bay wanted to hear as they now fall into a three way tie in their division with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. Â Some good news for the Packers, they finally had a running game with Eddie Lacy rushing for 150 yards. Â If they can keep this up, it will make the loss of Rodgers not as detrimental.
- Houston’s chances of climbing back into the AFC South are starting to slip away as they lost to the Indianapolis Colts. Up 21-3 at halftime, the Texans lost their head coach and looked like they were unable to focus on football. Â While it is very scary to Gary Kubiak collapse the way he did, they needed to win this one. Â They are now 2-6 and four games back from the Colts. Â Running back Arian Foster was pulled after the first drive which is a huge loss for them and it just appears to be a down year for them. They may have found their new quarterback in Case Keenum who had some spectacular touchdown passes to Andre Johnson early in the game.
Is it me or does Case keenum have a huge Tony Romo feel to him? Granted I watched Keenum tear up my Nittany Lions in that bowl game. Yet he has that huge upside but makes critical mistakes down the stretch feel to him. Is it just me or does anyone else feel or see this?
I definitely see your point, but with everything that happened in the last game during half time, I want to give him one more game to show off his ability. He definitely has the arm strength and he looked good in the first half. I think he definitely needs to finish the year as the starter and if he does not do well and the Texans have a high draft pick, they can draft a new one.
