It is the best time of the year! It’s bowl season and college football is everywhere. Even if your favorite college team isn’t in the playoffs, there’s usually a game you can tune into. This year will be a little bit different if you’re a TCU fan because the team willĀ be missing their starting quarterback. Ā Trevon Boykin will miss the Alamo Bowl against Oregon due to a legal issue.
Early on Thursday morning, Boykin was arrested after being charged with “assaulting a public servant” which is a third-degree felony. Boykin was released later on Thursday afterĀ his $5,000 bail was paid, but at that point, the damage was already done. As reported by ESPN, Boykin and teammates were in a bar when another person at the bar started to allegedly taunt Boykin and the team. Clearly, Boykin became upset and a fight broke out in which Boykin allegedlyĀ hit an employee. Boykin and others were removed from the bar but the fighting did not stop which is when officers arrived. Eventually, Boykin had seemed to calm down and police were reassured that he would be taken back to the hotel, but Boykin allegedlyĀ went after an officer which lead to his arrest.
After Boykin’s arrest was made public, both TCU head coach,Ā Gary Patterson and Boykin released statements. In Patterson’s statement, he broke the news of the suspension: “Trevone Boykin and Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday’s game due to a violation of team rules. We are disappointed in their actions and apologize to the TCU Horned Frogs Nation, Valero Alamo Bowl and city of San Antonio.”
Boykin took to Twitter to share his statement along with an apology:

The Alamo Bowl was Boykin’s last game as a horned frog and one last look for NFL scouts. It is unclear if TCU will start senior Bram Kohlhausen or redshirt freshmen Foster Sawyer forĀ today’s game.
