It was a great day in Sochi for Team USA! For the third time in Olympic history, Team USA has swept an event. This time it was men’s slopestyle skiing. It comes just hours after Kaitlyn Farrington and Kelly Clark both won the gold and bronze medals in the women’s halfpipe snowboarding event.
Gold medal winner, Joss Christensen, could not contain his excitement and expressed his feelings on his Twitter account:
Gus Kenworthy and Nick Goepper were the winners of the silver and bronze medals. After they received their medals, Goepper said. “I think it’s going to give the U.S. a lot more confidence, and it’s going to get a lot of people really excited.”
Before the sweep, the US had gotten off to a slow start as far as the number of medals. Now, however, Team USA is tied with the Netherlands for second in the overall number of medals, one behind Norway. Germany currently has the most gold medals with seven, the United States has four gold.
