In one of the strangest most unnecessary moves in NFL history, the New York Jets have traded a fourth round draft pick for Tim Tebow. Tebow was bound to be traded after it was made official that Peyton Manning agreed to be new face of the Denver Broncos. This would be a very typical high profile, high media type of deal that the Jets would make. That is not the surprising part. Why would you get a quarterback who is no better than the quarterback who is already been there who you just gave a three year extension to? Not only that, but they just signed a number 2 quarterback in former Detroit back for Matthew Stafford, Drew Stanton.
So is Tebow going to be a running back for them since he is known for his running ability much more than his passing ability or lack there of. I am not quite sure I follow this logic. Apparently one of the reasons given for the acquisition is that Tebow can run the wildcat offense that the Jets like to use from time to time. I can definitely understand that, but why give Sanchez the extension? Is the just to bring hype to the other New York non-Super Bowl winning team? Is just for the shock factor to make the Jets the most talked about team? Also, where is Tebow’s good boy, clean cut attitude going to fit in this chaotic team? All the locker room’s dirty laundry was aired at the end of last season; I cannot picture Tebow coming and changing all that.
