Love them or hate them, you care about the New York Knicks. When they’re bad, they are a hot mess. There’s usually tons of drama and embarrassment for long-suffering fans. Remember when owner James Dolan had beef with Charles Oakley?
The Knicks had virtually no off-the-court drama this season. Internal issues didn’t get leaked to the media and it was really just about basketball this season. It showed. Julius Randle was an absolute baller this season. Coach Thibs has done a phenomenal job with this group of guys exceeding every expectation in his first season. It isn’t a fluke that New York is a number four seed in the Eastern Conference. Randle is the young star player they have been looking for.
If you didn’t love Randle, look at his adorable son presenting his dad his Most Improved Player trophy.
Randle’s playoff debut for New York probably wasn’t up to fans’ expectations, but he can bounce back. The Most Improved Player literally can improve. During the regular season, Randle excelled against Atlanta. Kudos to Hawks’ coach Nate McMillan for coming up with a phenomenal defensive strategy. These two head coaches will make adjustments for game two.
Either way, you know as an NBA fan you’re interested in how the Knicks do tonight especially after that epic, only the Knicks, loss in game one. Trae Young has become public enemy number one in New York City. Even Mayor Bill De Blasio got in on the trash talk.
Young, in his playoff debut, hit the game-winning shot in game one and silenced the crowd at Madison Square Garden. Instantly, he received comparisons to former Knicks’ nemesis Reggie Miller.
After such a long and painful year it’s refreshing that we’re trash talking about sports. That’s what the Knicks do and you know you’re interested in what they do next.
