9168026-largeIt has been quite the whirlwind for the Paterno family.  First, Joe Paterno was fired from PennState after Jerry Sandusky was arrested for child rape for not reporting the allegations to the authorities.  A few months later he was diagnosed with lung cancer.  Now Jay Paterno, Joe’s son, who also worked in the PennState football program has resigned.  He stated, “After talking with Coach Bill O’Brien, we have reached the conclusion that I will not be a part of the Penn State football staff moving forward. I will spend the next few weeks consulting with my wife and family to weigh various future options both inside and outside of football.”

Bill O’Brien is the new head coach of PennState and will replace his father next season.  This tragedy has affected so many people, but most importantly the victims.  I hope for the best for the Paterno family as well as those alleged victims and their families. Hopefully everyone can find peace with this situation and live a happy life in the near future.  Things will turn around for the Paterno as Joe is expected to make a full recovery and I am sure Jay will find a new position somewhere in the football world.
