It looks like Marcus Mariota will be getting another wide receiver to throw to. After impressing almost everyone, throwing four touchdowns in his first regular season game, Mariota should be excited about the decision of WR Justin Hunter’s assault case. It looks like the team will be able to utilize one of their top wide receivers with their rookie QB.
Back in July, Hunter was involved in an incident in his home state of Virginia. At that time, Hunter was reportedly set to be charged with battery and assault. The victim of the alleged situation ended up with a broken jaw, but the anonymous victim testified in Hunter’s defense. Apparently, the brawl that took place that night involved Hunter and a multitude of people, but he was not the main aggressor and the video shown during the trial proved that point. The whole trial was around four hours and ended with the judge siding with Hunter, but the judge gave no reasoning behind his decision.
In his career so far with the Titans, Hunter has 7 touchdowns, 47 receptions, and 863 receiving yards. In their week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Hunter had one reception, 11 receiving yards, one first down, and failed to get in the end zone. With Hunter a definite part of the offense, he is going to be a good target for Mariota even though most of the touchdowns came from Kendall Wright and Harry Douglas. Rookie WR Dorial Green-Beckham was not targetted at all during the game which could leave the door open for Mariota to click more with Hunter. With a possible suspension behind him, Hunter will have a chance to focus solely on football instead of a a suspension or fine.
