College football Saturdays are back and they kicked off with a bang! Early Heisman favorite running back Todd Gurley put on a show against Clemson last night. On fifteen carries, Gurley recorded 198 yards, a new career high for the junior running back. Gurley got into the end zone three times, averaging 17.2 yards per carry. However, that was not even the most impressive play Gurley made that night.
In the second quarter, Gurley was in the end zone to receive the kick off and the 232 pound back ran it all the way back! He finished the night with 293 all-purpose yards. With his four touchdowns, Georgia cruised to an easy victory over Clemson.
This is a big year for Gurley who missed most of last season with injuries. “Having those nagging leg injuries, man, that holds you back,” Gurley said. “I didn’t have those tonight. It’s always good to start the season off healthy.” To help keep their big back healthy, Georgia has a lot of depth at the running back position, including Nick Chubb who rushed for 70 yards.
