Less then a week of being ousted out of the playoffs, the New York Rangers have fired their always entertaining head coach John Tortorella. The media should be relieved as Tortorella was notorious for not being the friendliest to reporters after games. His tough love style just could not get this team to the promise land after four years and the Rangers decided it was time to cut ties. Tortorella did help this team progress as they became the least penalized team this season. His team always talked highly of their coach and his coaching style.
Rangers fan will miss Tortorella’s fiery attitude and refusal to be diplomatic. He told it like it was and did not care who he offended. Many expected the slumping and highly overpaid Brad Richards to be let go, but so far he is still on the team, for now. The Rangers will have to make some financial arrangements as goalie and MVP Henrik Lundqvist is a free agent and will be looking for a big contract.
