The world reacted with shock and disgust after President Trump announced he has signed an immigration ban for seven Muslim-majority countries. For the next 90-120 days, refugees from Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen are not allowed to enter this country. If that was not appalling enough, legal green card holders were also being denied entry into the United States upon arrival. Hundreds of people around the country were detained in airports for hours before lawyers made their way to help. In response to the ban, Iran has retaliated by not allowing United States citizens into its country.
Unfortunately, this has left two American basketball players stranded in Dubai. JP Prince and Joseph Jones both play for Azad University Tehran. The entire team is on a trip to Dubai and the two players are unable to return to Iran, according to their agent Eric Fleisher who spoke with The Vertical. Fleisher explained that he and the team have been in contact with the Iranian government, but he was “not optimistic” about the two players being able to return to the country. Fleisher does not believe the two American-born players will be able to return before the season ends and likely cannot return to gather all of their belongings. If they are unable to play, they could lose up to $100,000 each.
