Duke Mondy and Dante Williams were arrested yesterday in connection with an alleged rape of a 20 year old woman. The woman alleges the incident took place in a Los Angeles hotel room. Both Monday and Williams were taken into custody and are being held for questioning. They are both being held on $100,00 bail. Murray is a senior guard who transferred from Providence and Williams is a junior forward for the team.
[UPDATE] According to TMZ, the Los Angeles District Attorney has rejected the case. the Oakland Grizzlies were in os Angeles to play against the UCLA Bruins. After the game, the team went back to the hotel and Mondy invited the woman back to his hotel room. The woman approached Williams, but he declined and said that he had to be back for curfew. Somehow, all three ended up in bed together before the woman left. When she got to the parking lot, she allegedly told the parking attendant that she thought she might have been raped.
Oakland University released this statement regarding the matter, “Local California authorities have informed us that they will not proceed with formal criminal charges. However, both players have been placed on interim suspension from the team pending an internal review.”
