UTSA’s hope of using their game against North Texas this past Saturday as their “measuring stick” was quickly diminished. UTSA’s quarterback, Frank Harris, was injured during the second play of the game. He walked off holding his right arm, and walked back to the sidelines shortly after visiting the medical tent.
UTSA was trying to come back from their previous losses to Army and Baylor, and unfortunately, they were unable to produce a win as they fell to North Texas, 45-3.
Lowell Narcisse, the replacement QB, threw two picks during the game. He completed only 16/36 passes for 124 yards. The only points that were put on the scoreboard were during the second quarter by their kicker, Hunter Duplessis.
It is hard to determine whether the team failed to pull off a win as a result of the loss of their quarterback, or the dominant effort by the Mean Green. The Roadrunners caused four turnovers with two picks and two fumbles. As a result, North Texas had more opportunities to score off of these costly mistakes.
UTSA head coach Frank Wilson did not blame the loss as a result of Frank Harris’ injury. He stated that the Birds would be doing the same plays schematically, and that the team failed to move the offense down the field.
There are no updates as to Frank Harris’ injury status, and no updates on when he will return.
