Former Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls coach, Vinny Del Negro, may be packing his bags and heading to the Midwest in the near future, after impressing Minnesota Timberwolves owner and former coach, Flip Saunders.
It is clear Del Negro knows what it takes to get a W or two, as he lead the once struggling Los Angeles Clippers to a 57 win season in 2013. Despite being fired after that very same season due to an early first round playoff exit, Vinny has also actively been in talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers organization since their recent release of coach Mike Brown.
Del Negro is favored to be named the team’s new leading man, however it remains to be seen if Saunders may again step in and reclaim the title himself after leading the team to the playoffs in 2004 along side future hall of fame power forward, Kevin Garnett.
However, if Del Negro is given the position as the Timberwolves new head coach, he could be getting more than he bargained for. With Kevin Love, the team’s current all star power forward passing on his contract extension with the team, it’s looking like the future of the Minnesota organization is going to need to start from the ground up.
