It sure was fun while it lasted! The Golden State Warriors looked like they could possibly be the first NBA team to go 82-0. The team was clicking and had zero hangover from winning a championship just a few months ago. Reigning MVP Steph Curry is playing better than anyone else in the league with almost every shot dropping for him and his teammates. The Warriors broke the former record for best start to a season previously held by the 1993-94 Houston Rockets and 1948-49 Washington Capitols.
The team was working so well together until the other half of the Splash Brothers, Klay Thompson was injured during a game against the Indiana Pacers. The Warriors did win that game, but seeing Thompson in pain was a scary sight for Warriors fans. He sat out during yesterday’s game against the Boston Celtics, a game that went to double overtime.
Thompson returned to the lineup for tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks with the team looking to go 25-0. After playing a marathon game last night and having to travel it was clear this team was tired. The team kept up with he Bucks in the first quarter, but slowly started to fade by the second quarter. At halftime the team was down 59-48 which normally is an easy lead for Golden State to catch, but they were unable to tonight. The team made it a one point game in the third quarter, but only scoring 18 in the fourth helped hand this team their first loss of the season.
While no one likes to lose, now the Warriors can just focus on playing their game. They will no longer have to deal with the media asking the usual questions about being undefeated and the history they were making. This team was not going 82-0 and now it is official.
