With the 2016-17 NHL season set to begin in just seventeen days, there’s only one thing left to do: crown a winner of the World Cup of Hockey, and that can happen as soon as Thursday night. With Canada defeating Russia on Saturday evening, and Europe just edging out Sweden in overtime on Sunday afternoon, it can truly be anyone’s victory at this point.
Both Canada and Europe will have some teammates facing off for the beloved WCH title. Jonathan Toews, captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, represents team Canada, while his teammate Marian Hossa, is a member of team Europe. These two teams truly represent some of the best players that the NHL showcases on a nightly basis, so you know this match up is definitely going to be one to watch,
Game one of the World Cup finals will be Tuesday, September 27th at Air Canada Centre in Toronto with an 8:00 PM EST puck drop. Game two will be Thursday, September 29th with puck drop also scheduled at 8:00 PM EST, and game three, if necessary, will be Saturday, October 1st at 7:00 PM EST. Let the best team win!
