Thirty teams have now been reduced to two. Two teams that will put everything on the line to win a World Series ring for their city. This year, it is two historic franchises; the St. Louis Cardinals will represent the National League and the Boston Red Sox will represent the American League.
The St. Louis Cardinals are proving that they are one of the best teams at scouting and developing young talent to complement their veteran players. Just look at pitcher Michael Wacha. The rookie outpitched Clayton Kershaw in the biggest game of both of their young careers. He was the compensation pick after Albert Pujols went to the Los Angeles Angels. Playing in arguably the toughest division in baseball, the Cardinals always fins a way to win whether it be stellar pitching or a lineup that boasts four or five home run threats. The Cardinals have a secret weapon this October… Carlos Beltran! Sorry Mets fans, but Beltran is continuing his hot hitting this October. He has been unbelievable all postseason and is looking for his first ring. It is hard to believe a player as good as he in the playoffs, has not won it all yet.
This team was in last place last year. However, that is the past and their present looks bright! This team has turned it around in one season and it now headed to the World Series. With the addition of new manager John Farrell, catcher Mike Napoli, pitcher Jake Peavy, and outfielder Shane Victorino, this team became the best team in the American League. Beating defending American League champions, Detroit Tigers, was no easy task. They managed to beat Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer twice. The Red Sox appear on a path of destiny. They seem to come up with the big hits when necessary and the lethal pitching late in games.
