In case you were unaware of how fast technology is evolving, it was announced today that Yahoo will stream the first ever live NFL game on October 25th.  The game will take place in London, as the NFL still debates whether or not to move a franchise there, and will be between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars.  Not to worry local Bills and Jags fans, the game will still be broadcasted on local television networks.  The game, however, will start at 9:30am Eastern Standard Time so be prepared to be up early!

The move is a huge deal as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell explained in a statement, “The NFL has always been committed to being at the forefront of media innovation. Through this partnership with Yahoo – one of the world’s most recognizable digital brands – we are taking another important step in that direction as we continue to closely monitor the rapidly evolving digital media landscape.”

Yahoo paid at least eight figures, meaning north of $10 million, to host the game. It makes sense the NFL would chose this game because it will not take away from the normal 1PM and 4PM EST games and will help the league reach an even larger market internationally.  What do you think of the NFL’s move to digital streaming? Will you be watching?
